🔆The main cause of clothing pilling
This is mainly because the static electricity between fibers causes the fibers to be attracted by the static electricity and form a ball. The static electricity comes from friction, such as the flipping inside the washing machine or the friction between clothes and objects, which leads to the pilling phenomenon.
🔆Do pure cotton clothes also pilling?
There are many kinds of cotton components. Unless you don’t wash it often, no matter how good the cotton is, it will have some fuzz. And it will also have some fuzz when worn on your body because of friction with close clothes. So if you wear it frequently, it will definitely happen!
🔆How to wash to reduce pilling?
1️⃣You can use flexible detergent, because the washing powder will also damage the fiber of the clothes when running.
2️⃣Before putting the clothes in the washing machine, flip them over and choose a smaller mesh bag. Then select the “soft wash” mode for cleaning; if hand washing, it’s recommended to soak and press the clothes, but never rub them!
3️⃣After loading the laundry bag, roll it tightly with the clothes and secure it with straps or ropes to prevent loosening during washing. This method avoids excessive friction, though it can be quite cumbersome. If you truly cherish your clothes, this option might be worth considering.
4️⃣ Clothes can be dried naturally, especially cotton clothes. It is not recommended to use a dryer (it will damage the fiber of clothes).
🔆What if your clothes have gotten fuzzy and you look messy and ugly?
1️⃣ If the hair lifting is not serious, it can be removed with tape; if it is serious, it can be gently scraped off with a razor or non-electric hair removal tool (do not use too much force), or you can buy a clothes-specific hair removal ball machine.
2️⃣Brush gently with a toothbrush to remove larger hairs.
3️⃣Gourd cloth and fine sandpaper. Use the hard side of the gourd cloth to brush the jersey fabric. Do not brush too hard. (Fine sandpaper is the same principle)
🍀Never remove lint balls by hand, as this can stretch fabrics and cause fibers to expand, creating more lint!
