🍀 Flax is an ancient bast fiber crop and oilseed crop. It originated in the Near East and the Mediterranean coastal regions. As early as the Neolithic Age over 5,000 years ago, Lake-dwelling inhabitants in Switzerland and ancient Egyptians had cultivated flax and used its fibers to weave fabrics. The “mummies” found throughout Egypt were also wrapped in flax cloth. Flax fibers possess characteristics such as high tensile strength, softness, good fineness, low electrical conductivity, rapid water absorption and drainage, and high expansion rate, enabling the production of high-count yarns for high-end garments.
☘️ Flax fiber is the oldest textile fiber in the world, and fabrics made from flax fiber are widely used as clothing fabrics, decorative fabrics, tablecloths, bedding and automotive supplies.
♻️ Characteristics of flax fibres
1️⃣ Linen fibers’ remarkable moisture absorption and release capabilities form the primary basis for these hygiene benefits. Why do linen garments feel comfortable and cool in summer while providing warmth in winter? How does linen decor regulate environmental conditions? The key lies in the unique moisture transport properties of linen fibers.
2️⃣ The characteristic of low static and low magnetic field effect of flax fiber is another basic quality that gives its textile excellent sanitary function.
3️⃣ Flax fibers maintain a straight and smooth texture, appearing as individual bamboo segments in projections magnified over 50 times without the twisting found in cotton or wool fibers.
4️⃣ The surface luster of the fiber. The cross section of the flax fiber is pentagonal and has a natural luster.
❇️ Linen fabrics possess temperature-regulating, anti-allergenic, anti-static, and antibacterial properties. Due to their exceptional moisture absorption capacity (able to absorb 20 times their weight in water), they deliver a dry and comfortable texture. The emergence of wrinkle-resistant and iron-free linen products, along with blended fiber innovations, has significantly expanded the market for linen goods. Internationally, linen production primarily utilizes flat knitting machines and rapier looms, yielding diverse products including elegant handkerchiefs, shirt fabrics, crepe silks, patterned colored yarns, sportswear, and hemp-fiber blends. Household applications encompass curtains, wall coverings, tablecloths, and bedding. Industrial-grade products feature canvas materials, travel tents, insulating fabrics, filter cloths, and aviation-grade textiles.
✅ Flax can be interwoven or blended with wool, polyester and other fibers to form textile products with unique style, good quality and low price.
